The repository explorer will open at the root of the repository structure. Sub folders can be seen for various areas including:

Clicking on any of these folders will navigate to that sub folder.

The sub folder view includes a crumb bar at the top along with an "up" button to allow the user to navigate back towards the root of the folder tree. It is also possible to click on a parent folder in the crumb bar to go direct to that folder.

Depending on the permissions of the user and ownership of the objects that are visible, each item will have "Permissions", "Edit" and "Delete" buttons.

Permissions

The "Permissions" button makes it possible to restrict access to the item for other users.

Clicking the permissions displays the view above, with one row in the table for each user and group in the system.

Depending on group membership, users and groups will inherit permissions from parent groups that they are members of. Groups are a powerful way of bulk allocating permissions and applying permissions to groups is a much more manageable way of controlling access than on an individual user basis.

The "Inherited Permissions" column indicates the level of access inherited based on a user or groups, group membership.

The "Select" column allows a permission to be allocated to the specific group or user in the row.

Permissions are as follows:

It is not sufficient to assign a user permission to an item to access it. If that user cannot also access the parent folders of that item, they will be unable to navigate to it.

NB: Permissions can also be updated from within the FastClose Designer tool. In either the "Open" or "Save As" dialog, right click and select "Change Permissions..."

Permissions can also be set on connections. Doing so makes it possible to control access to entire ERP environments. See 10.24 Configuring a Test Environment for further details.
