Log into the web administration tool as described here 10.00 Signing into Web Administration
Click “Connections” in the menu on the left.
Expand Connections and click "ERP Connections".
Connections bring together ERP Data Sources that have already been defined with catalogs that describe the ERP database schema's - and give them a name.
Once a connection is defined, it is something that can be seen and used within the FastClose Designer UI.
To create a new connection, click "Create New ERP Connection".
This screen has three fields:
Name
The name of your connection. This will appear the reports in the connection selection. For Epicor users, this is often “Live” or “Pilot”. For SAP Business One customers with multiple company databases, this should be the name of the Company whose data is stored in the database.
Catalog
Select the catalog that matches the ERP version of the database.
Database Connection Name
Select the database to connect to.
Click "Create" to save your changes.
After restarting FastClose Designer, it is possible to see this connection in the "Connections" filter, eg:
On occasion for example during Epicor upgrades, you might want to create connections for test purposes that allow a restricted group of users to view a new environment and compare it with the existing live one. More on creating and controlling such test connections here.
