Installing FastClose Client Machines (first time)

Installing FastClose Client Machines (first time)

If upgrading from a previous version of the software please visit Upgrading FastClose Client Machines.

System Admins

The FastClose desktop client software will install in a per-user mode by default, within the user's AppData\Local folder, but this behaviour can be overridden. If you are a System Administrator configuring centralized desktop management e.g. with Microsoft Intune, or you are installing on Remote Desktop Services (formerly Terminal Services) you may want to force the software to install per-machine i.e. for all users, within the Program Files folder. See Per-Machine versus Per-User Installs.

To install client software for the first time on a user's PC proceed as follows:

The installers can be downloaded from your FastClose Server using Chrome or Edge via the FastClose Server web app at http://[ApplicationServer]:5101/Admin/Downloads where [ApplicationServer] is the name of the server that the FastClose Server was installed on.

You should see a web page similar to the below:

Click the highlighted links to download the desired installers and run them. Most commonly this would be the Designer app and the Excel Add-in.

Please ensure that Excel is fully closed before running the installer for the Excel Add-In.

Each installer has two screens as below. It is necessary to check the box 'I accept the terms in the License Agreement' to enable the Install button.

Connecting FastClose Clients to FastClose Server

Now launch FastClose Designer from the Start Menu.

When a user first launches Designer, the desktop Reader or the Excel Add-in they will need to tell it the address of the FastClose Server.
