FastClose comes with many templates and solutions that are ready to use out of the box accessed via the "File->Home" menu. However, it is quite likely that the data being selected isn’t quite as you want it. Perhaps:
There are some columns you don’t need
There are some columns you do need, but which aren’t on the report
Maybe the order of the columns isn’t “just so”
Or the filters shown aren’t quite those that you require
All of these things can be amended.
Here is a video, or read below - don't forget the exercises at the bottom!
Let’s look at a simple AR Invoices report.
The columns displayed in the report are split into two categories, “Down Axis” columns and Meaure “Across Axis” columns which hold values that can be added up.
Down Axis columns can be
Added using the “Field Explorer” either by double clicking or by dragging and dropping the columns where they are to be inserted,
Reordered directly on the grid by dragging the column headers, to the left or right.
or Removed using the “Right Click Menu” on the grid
In this image, we have just right clicked on a column in the grid:
That right clicking brings up a Menu of actions that include:
Remove Column – which will remove the column
and Remove All Columns But This – which is a quick way of focusing on one particular column and getting rid of everything else.
There is also a Hide Column feature but this is used much more rarely, and is subtly different (more on this later)
Alternatively, the selected columns can be amended in bulk using the “Rows / Columns” dialog found on the “Layout” tab
This brings up the “Rows / Columns" dialog where the column selections are defined (in the first “Pivot” tab).
Across Axis Columns can be
Added and Removed using the Filters for Across Axis Dimensions, usually including the Measures filter.
Reordered by changing the order of items in the filter or directly on the grid by dragging the column headers, to the left or right.
For example, in this simple AR Invoices report:
we ad new measures columns, simply by adding them to the filter:
